Rates: $120 - $150 per hour (inc. super)
The Defence Science & Technology Group (DSTG) is seeking at least one Software Engineer to assist DSTG to design, build, test and deploy a new Metadata Catalogue for researchers using existing technologies available at DSTG. The project requires highly skilled Software Engineers with strong skills in the following categories:
1. Programming Languages
2. Web Development Framework
3. Technologies
- Apache Solr
- Docker
- Postgresql
- Linux
DSpace experience is advantageous; that can seamlessly interact with our customer to deliver the required solution. This will include:
- Strong consulting skills (customer focussed) with customer and project team
- Requirements validation
- Technical design for Metadata Catalogue (Data modelling, assessing content, roles and rules, approval processes, post approval visibility), collaborating with existing RDI service providers.
- DSpace Customisations (Tailoring views, Reskinning, UI updates, deployment network customisations including access and authentication, front end modifications stored in its own code repository)
- Data Ingest Script Development.
- Produce Test Plans, Test Cases and Test Execution Report.
- Implementation Planning.
- Deployment of the Solution (Containerised Deployment (Docker) and Testing on target network, including backups, AD integration and logging, replication dependencies, service desk and ITSM integration).
- Development of Training Materials
- Presentation of Training Materials and Handover to users.
- Post Deployment Support (3 months / 60 working days) for Customisation, including; bug fixes, maintenance and minor enhancements - modifications to adapt to users once they start using the system)
